THE WATER OF LIFE

The Water of Life

It was one of the hottest days of the dry season. We had not seen rain in almost a month. The crops were dying. Cows had stopped giving milk. The creeks and streams were long gone back into the earth. It was a dry season that would bankrupt several farmers before it was through. Every day, my husband and his brothers would go about the arduous process of trying to get water to the fields. Lately this process had involved taking a truck to the local water rendering plant and fi… Continue

PAPPY

Pappy

Pappy was a pleasant-looking old fellow. He had the whitest hair which he kept neatly cut and combed. His eyes were blue, though faded with age, and they seemed to emit a warmth from within. His face was quite drawn, but when he smiled, even his wrinkles seemed to soften and smile with him. He had a talent for whistling and did so happily each day as he dusted and swept his pawnshop; even so, he had a secret sadness, but everyone who knew him respected and adored him.

Most of Pappy's cus… Continue

KINDNESS

Kindness

One day a woman was walking down the street when she spied a beggar sitting on the corner. The man was elderly, unshaven, and ragged. As he sat there, pedestrians walked by him giving him dirty looks. They clearly wanted nothing to do with him because of who he was -- a dirty, homeless man. But when she saw him, the woman was moved to compassion.

It was very cold that day and the man had his tattered coat -- more like an old suit coat rather than a warm coat -- wrapped around him. She… Continue

FLYING ABOVE THE STORM

Flying Above The Storm

Did you know that an eagle knows when a storm is approaching long before it breaks?

The eagle will fly to some high spot and wait for the winds to come.

When the storm hits, it sets its wings so that the wind will pick it up and lift it high above the storm.

While the storm rages below, the eagle is soaring high above it, gliding with ease.

The eagle does not escape the storm, it just simply uses the storm to lift it higher.

It rises on the winds that bring the storm… Continue

HORSE-SENSE

Horse-Sense

Just up the road from my home is a field, with two horses in it. From a distance, each looks like every other horse. But if one stops the car, or is walking by, one will notice something quite amazing.

Looking into the eyes of one horse will disclose that he is blind. His owner has chosen not to have him put down, but has made a good home for him. This alone is amazing.

Listening, one will hear the sound of a bell. Looking around for the source of the sound, one will see that it c… Continue

A GIRL NAMED LI-LI

Dear Friend,

There are many people in this world who are only kind and friendly to those that are kind and friendly with them. In other words, they do not or try not to intermingle with people who don't show the same level of kindness. As believers in the Lord and witnesses of His love and compassion, we are called to love the unlovable and be compassionate towards those that are
less than compassionate with us. (John 13:34-35) (Matthew 5:14-16)

The Lord Jesus declares in Matthew 5:43-45, “You… Continue

Today, June 20th Steve came for his every other week visit. He visits me without fail every other week for two days as well as two of my closest friends Teri and Robin who he has become friends with also. He is also helping them legally.

Steve always makes all of us laugh, mainly because he’s a funny and nice man, but also because he cheats so badly at cards. We play a game called Casino; I recommend that no one invite him over to play. For real Steve is such a nice man.

We are Only Human

We can admit our limitations and defects.

When we admit the truth about our limitations and defects, we create fertile ground for new growth and change. But if we wallow in hopeless belief that our defects are just our true nature, we grow committed to them. That is the difference between powerlessness and helplessness. When we accept our powerlessness to control everything, we wake up to a deeper wisdom - that more willfulness only brings more defeat. Some of our needs can only be met and some… Continue

To err is human; to blame it on the other guy is even more human.

Bob Goddard

We are on a path that leads us to become better people with greater insight and stronger character. A central theme on this path is learning to take responsibility for ourselves, our mistakes, and our choices as we deal with our situations. We can make progress on this path by noticing our defensive reactions when we make a mistake or when someone criticizes us. Our old ways were aimed at shifting the blame or counterattacking to get someone else off our case. Now we are learning ho… Continue

Elizabeth Tolbert Case Show Her Your Support Please

Hey Everyone:

I would like to introduce Elizabeth “Liz” Tolbert. She is currently serving time in an Illinois prison in connection with the death of her husband. I am a journalist who investigated the case and I can assure you she had nothing to do with this crime. Despite her attorney having access to bank documents that clear her of this murder as well as witness statements and police rep… Continue

Update on My Cousin

Hey Everyone,

Good news! I just found out that my cousin is going through the process to get a new trial!! YAY! I'm so excited! I pray everyday that this happens and turns things around. When he was first convicted (see my blog, My Passion..), he was the first to be convicted of this crime of distributing drugs causing death, so they pinned him with a murder charge. Well, his attorney has now found that since his conviction, others have been tried of the same thing and did not get a murder char… Continue
